Verification of marks and age before admission

Training Circular No. 16 of 2005

No:11-TR(37)/2005                                                                                        Dated: May 30, 2005

Subject : Verification of marks and age before admission

It has been brought to the notice of Directorate that in few cases candidates were given admission based on mark sheets which were not genuine. In some of the cases such trainees manage to get CDCs also.

It is prime responsibility of Training Institute to ensure that the Candidates meets with eligibility criteria laid down by Directorate, including relating to minimum marks and subjects as well as age before the candidates given admission and before the passing out certificate and CDC is handed over.

The issue has been discussed with representatives of the industry and some of the Training Institutions. It has been brought out that few Training Institutes do not issue any CDC till they get verification about genuineness of mark sheets and school leaving certificate through the concerned Educational Board and / or from the Principal of the School.

Henceforth it will be imperative on the part of Training Institute not to issue passing out certificate and CDCs till they get verification confirmed from the concerned Educational Board and/ or Principal of the School

All Maritime Training Institutes are required to follow this strictly and failure to comply with shall be construed as major misconduct in terms of DGS order 1 of 2003.

This issues with the approval of the Director General of Shipping & Ex - officio Addl. Secretary to the Govt. of India.
