Sub: Monthly returns on status of Preliminary Inquiry/Formal investigation

This Directorate receives statements showing the position of pending Preliminary Inquiries and Formal Investigations every month from various Mercantile Marine Departments. The present format of these statements does not serve the purpose of effective monitoring of the subject by the Directorate. Further, these reports are not being forwarded by all MMDs regularly.

2. In order to standardize monthly returns of Preliminary Inquiries and Formal Investigation, a new format has been developed and is being enclosed herewith for your information and necessary implementation.

3. The enclosed format, duly filled, is required to be forwarded to the Nautical Advisor to the Govt. of India at the end of every month.

4. This issues with the approval of Nautical Adviser to the Govt. of India.
