Exemption from Class II to Class I (Obsolete)

With reference to Circular 33, exemptions were granted from MEO Class I examination for the candidates who have passed MEO Class II under Examination Rules 98 and completed 3 months preparatory course. This exemption is withdrawn for all candidates from 1st July 2004. This in effect means that all the candidates who have passed in MEO Class II examination after 1st June 2004 will have to appear for MEO Class I examination after completing the Engineering Management Training Course including the Simulator course. Please refer to Engine Circular No. 16 in this matter.

If the candidate has passed MEO Class II - Part B examination under Examination Rules 1989 and has subsequently completed / started qualifying sea service for Class I under Examination Rules 1989, then sea service will be considered for eligibility for Class I under Examination Rules 1998. However, undergoing the Engineering Management Training Course and appearing for the Class I examination is a must.
