New Delhi, the 22nd Nov., 1963 NOTIFICATION

G.S.R.-In exercise of the powers conferred by section 92 read with sections 457 and 458 of the Merchant shipping Act, 1958 (44 of 1958) the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Merchant shipping (Apprenticeship to Sea Service) rules, 1960, namely: -

1. These rules may be called Merchant shipping (Apprenticeship to Sea Service) Second Amendment Rules, 1963.
2. In the Merchant Shipping (Apprenticeship to Sea Service) Rules, 1960-
   1. In rule 3, for sub-rule 92), the following sub-rule shall be substituted , namely ;-
   2. Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-rule (1) the condition regarding citizenship referred to in clause (a) of that sub-rule or the upper age limit referred to in clause (b) of that sub-rule may, in appropriate cases, be relaxed by the director General of Shipping�,
   3. In schedule I, the following note shall be inserted at the end, namely :-

Note ;- Where the Apprentice is not a citizen of India, the form specified in this Schedule shall apply, subject tot he following modification, namely :-

1. for the words �citizen of India� the words and brackets �national of (here insert the name of the country of which the apprentice is a nations)� shall be substituted;
2. the words �nearest his home� ,wherever they occur, shall be deleted;
3. for the word �minor� the words and brackets �minor (according or Indian Law)� shall be substituted;
4. for the word �minor� the words and brackets �major� (according to Indian law)� shall be substituted;
5. after the word �repatriation�, the words �to India� shall be inserted.
3. In Schedule II, the following note shall be inserted at the end, namely :-

Note:- where the Apprentice is not a citizen of India, the form specified in this Schedule shall apply, subject to the following modifications, namely: -

1. for the words �citizen of India�, the words and brackets �National of �� (here insert the name of the country of which the apprentice is a national)�
2. The words �nearest his home� wherever they occur shall be deleted;
3. after the word �reparation�, the words � to India� shall be inserted. [24-MT (8)/63].
