Sub: Guidelines for import of all types of ships - Amendment 1

Ref: Guidelines issued vide O.M. of even number dated 15.6.2001

It has been decided to amend para 1 on Technical clearance of the said O.M. as follows:-

1.TECHNICAL CLEARANCE :

1.1 No prior technical clearance is required for acquisition of vessels below 25 years of age. Prior technical clearance would, however, be required for vessels of and above 25 years of age.

1.2 Director General of Shipping [DG(S)] may grant permanent registration to the vessel without physical inspection on the basis of production of relevant documentary proof as per the guidelines laid down by DG(S) in this regard.

1.3 DG(S) may issue detailed guidelines in respect of registration as per para 1.2 above, compliance of statutory safety requirements, rectification of deficiencies etc. by shipowners, from time to time.
